Charge ahead with the Ox

The jamboree of lunar new year has just passed us all by, and this year has truly been a time for family and celebration. Perhaps it was due to the presence of my dearest visitors from the States, perhaps it was because of one of cheer and togetherness, of all of us growing wiser and breaking out and into a deeper sense of appreciation of our loved ones. Perhaps it was because I had such an amazing time feasting, sharing and laughing with not just my family but his family too, shuttling our time between three homes, all with words of prosperity and cheer hanging in the air. 

And unfortunately, or fortunately, E and I spent some time among distant friends.. If you want some life lessons, there’s nothing like hanging out with a snobby bunch of bankers to remind you of how one should always be contented with simplest joys and how family is the most important relation every individual should have.

As icing on my cake, decorating the apartment was fun too.

And though its not, it is probably the next best thing for uniting two loves – diamonds and caffiene, the perfect combo boost for every girl’s day. Furthermore, I’m pretty much a sucker for anything Swarovski.

Uncomfortable silence

They say the only constant is change. Change takes place around us everywhere, everyday. People change.

Yet I’m not used to accepting change, especially when the shift makes me feel displaced. You probably know it, I know it – but neither of us are acknowledging it so that it may never be considered real.

I think I could be diagnosed with what they call a home decorating nazi syndrome – ooooh glass jug! cute tea cups! porcelain! cushionssss! vases! And somehow when it all comes together, a trend of white and robin egg blue surfaces. 

You’d think that shuttling and sleeping in two homes would help disperse the junk I have, but now both places are filled with so much clutter, and I can’t help but wonder…do I really have that much stuff ? 

On an unrelated note – I caught ‘Rachel getting married’ today. It was beautiful. I went for a movie alone, sat in the theatre and reveled alone, cried alone. And it felt so good.

I have a hard time believing the speed at which time runs, have we partied till its 2009..already? And with each year that passes, I draw down some resolutions, some goals, some inspirational words to live by for the 365 days ahead – because we need these grids, some pit stops along the way as Life is precious and we shouldn’t whittle our time past.  

And as usual, my resolutions circle around Money, Exercise, Spirit, Relationships, taking life head on and being the best person I can. 2008 was one of many notables – getting my license, working in New York, celebrating my coming of age, being bedazzled , striking off a fashion mag internship, and taking baby steps in moving out and into our own.

2009 will be just as great, if not better. With my babe, family and amazing friends – though few, but so crucial – lending me support, it makes me feel like I can achieve more than I ever thought possible. 

New year, new start, new breath of days to bring about new resolutions that sometimes need new attitudes to fulfill. Most of all, new beliefs, new hope and new grit to weather, ride and celebrate Life.
